privacy policy
last updated october 24, 2026
this explains what Glassay (run by the Glassay team) collects, why, and the choices you have. we don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t show ads based on it.
what we collect
- account details: name, username, email, password (stored scrambled — we can’t read it), birthday (to check your age; only you and admins can see it), and if you’re a teen, your parent or guardian’s account.
- what you share: posts, replies, photos, videos, voice notes, glints, flickers, chat messages, reactions, live streams, albums, journal entries, profile details, music picks and friends.
- how you use it: when you were last active, read receipts (if on), what you’ve seen (like which glints), and settings.
- device info: a sign-in cookie, push-notification addresses if you turn alerts on (in the glassay app for iPhone and Android, the notification token your phone gives the app), and basic server logs (IP address, browser) kept for security.
- camera and microphone: only while you’re using the camera, recording a voice note or going live. nothing is recorded or sent until you choose to.
how we use it
- to run Glassay: show your posts to the people you choose, deliver messages and alerts, keep you signed in.
- to keep people safe: review reports, enforce the rules, apply teen protections, stop spam and abuse.
- to fix problems and improve features.
who can see it
- posts set to “everyone” can be seen by anyone on Glassay; “friends” posts only by your friends. huddle and group content only by members. chats only by the people in them.
- flickers are deleted from our servers after they’re seen (or after 30 days if no one opens them). glints are hidden after 24 hours.
- if you report something, a copy is kept for the moderators, even if it disappears from the app.
- admins can see what’s needed to moderate reports and run the site.
- we use a few outside services to make features work: GIF search (GIPHY), music previews (Apple Music, Spotify), a camera effects library and fonts loaded from public content networks, push services from Apple (Apple Push Notification service), Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and browser makers, and our web host. they only get what they need to do that job.
- we share information with authorities only when the law requires it, or to protect someone from serious harm.
your choices
- download your data any time: settings → app & your data.
- delete your account any time: settings → delete account. your profile, posts, replies, glints, flickers and the messages you sent are deleted. copies in server backups are removed as those backups are replaced.
- turn off read receipts, alerts, camera and microphone access, and change who sees your posts.
- block or report anyone.
children and teens
you must be at least 14 to use Glassay. we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. accounts for people under 17 need a parent or guardian’s approval, and have extra protections. if you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us at info@glassay.com and we’ll delete it.
security
we use encrypted connections (https), scrambled passwords and private storage for flickers. no service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.
your rights
depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have the right to access, correct, download or delete your information, and to object to some uses. most of this you can do yourself in settings; for anything else, email info@glassay.com.
changes
if we change this policy in an important way, we’ll tell you in the app.
